Vicki's pictureOver the course of her past 25 years of professional music making, Vicki Richards has played Bach solos in Allahabad, India and Hindustani Classical music in Carnegie Hall. Equally at ease with a raga or a symphony, she has also performed electronic and 20th century music. Vicki's Classical training includes Indiana University's School of Music and the University of Miami's School of Music.

Already a working professional, she was the recipient of grants from the Smithsonian Institution and the American Institute of Indian Studies in 1979 and 1985, Ms. Richards studies were with Padmashree N.Rajam and Shri Amarnath Mishra. Vicki and husband, Tim Richards, represented the United States for Festival of India, 1986, in a concert tour of North India

Vicki's recording in 1998, "Parting the Waters", received "highest recommendations" from Billboard's Guide to Progressive Music and is listed in Billboard's 100 Classic Progressive Recordings. She has recorded with Projekt label's Black Tape For A Blue Girl series of electronic/ambient/gothic music releases over the past decade.

Her most recent recording, Temple Dwellers, includes Vicki's Classical violin playing on excerpts from Ravel's string quartet, impressionistic original compositions, a highly charged electric guitar-like solo and a sparse, yet rythmically riveting finale envisioned in a Navajo Canyon.
