Violist for the Turtle Island String Quartet. I don't actually know all that much about Daniel, but from the Turtle Island web site found out that he has quite diverse interests. He's spent a good deal of time in the classical circuit, playing with a wide variety of ensembles including the Steve Reich Ensemble (a personal favorite), Joffrey Ballet, and New York City Opera, not to mention Led Zeppelin, Liza Minelli, and James Brown. He leads his own progressive rock group "Spy," has played with improvisational jazz-fusion group "Szobel," and is even an early music specialist, performing with groups including the Grande Bande and the Eighteenth Century Ensemble. He even spends some of his time performing as a violinist! I saw him play with TISQ a while back here in Seattle, and he's an excellent player, with lots of energy and style.
